General Crime

The criminal team at 2 Pump Court has a first class reputation.

Members of the team are regularly instructed at Queen’s Counsel and junior level to defend and prosecute in the most serious and often high profile cases; from murder and manslaughter to rape and child sexual abuse. We are, however, able to offer an appropriately experienced barrister for any general criminal case, whether in the Court of Appeal, High Court, Crown Court or Magistrates Court. We also ensure that members of the team are available to cover “Saturday” work – a member of our clerking team can always be contacted out-of-hours, please call Michael Johnson on 07969 773 774.

Although mainly instructed to defend by solicitors in London and the South East members of the team travel across the country. We also prosecute at all levels for the Crown Prosecution Service, Revenue and Serious Fraud Office, Local Authorities and Government Departments. We have a number of Counsel who have been appointed to the Attorney’s List and conduct cases on behalf of the Department of Business, Innovation and Skills, the Revenue, the Department of Work and Pensions and the Health and Safety Executive.

We happily accept instructions in both private and publically funded cases. Many members of the team can also be instructed through the Public Access Scheme.

We know how important it is to choose the right barrister for a particular case, and so our clerks are always able to help you with that choice, by discussing the experience and expertise of any members of our team. Full CVs of each member are available on request.

The criminal team at 2 Pump Court are also very aware of the need for keeping up with the latest developments in criminal law. With that in mind, we organise regular seminars for our professional clients. If you wish to be on our mailing list for our accredited continuing education seminars please contact one of our clerking team.

Members of the criminal team are also able to offer particular expertise in the following areas of crime, quasi-crime and regulatory work.

For Saturday cases please call Michael Johnson on 07969 773 774
