Courts Martial

Members of chambers regularly appear before Courts Martial, both at Military Court Centres in the UK and abroad. Members represent military personnel of all ranks and civilians subject to military law. We have appeared in a number of high profile cases, In particular members successfully acted for soldiers from the Third Battalion of the Parachute Regiment accused of murdering an Iraqi civilian. Members also represented six defendants in an allegation of disgraceful conduct (in essence a bullying allegation) in which all six were acquitted.

Members also appear before the Courts Martial Appeal Court.

Members are also happy to appear at summary appeal hearings, and at MCTC adjudications.

We are able to take instructions from solicitors, or may be instructed directly through AFCLAA. If you are a soldier who needs assistance or a defending officer who needs to obtain representation or advice for a soldier, then please contact our clerks who will immediately refer you to a barrister who will be able to give quick and appropriate advice.
